Wall-e Essay
The humans on the ship are living a sedentary lifestyle. Without an active lifestyle humans are at high risk to develop diabetes, anxiety, depression, heart disease, obesity, colon cancer, and high blood pressure. I believe that Wall-e is a reminder for us to spend less time on the internet (virtual reality) and get up and out into the real world.
In today's society we are not much different than the humans in Wall-e. When you spend your life sitting in front of a computer and never interacting with people in person that is detrimental to your well-being. Much of our workforce do that everyday so it’s no wonder that we have an epidemic in our health. The only difference really is that not everyone is living on a ship. Usually our astronauts stay in space for only 6 months, because the negative effects on our body is too great of a risk. However in the future when we figure out how to eliminate all the risks. I believe it could be a positive thing as long as we have an indoor place to run and play. We would also have to interact with everyone and always stay busy.
A little over a year ago I had been the heaviest that I had ever been in my life and I couldn’t figure out how to lose the weight. Whenever I went on a diet I would gain more even with exercising regularly. I ended up just giving up and eating anything I wanted, I figured that as long as I was having fun it didn’t matter what size I am. That was when I started to drop the weight I believe it is because I started to get out of the house and have fun everyday. I am planning on doing just that for the rest of my life. My grandma is my inspiration for keeping active. Two times a week I go to curves with my grandma who is 83 years old. I have been doing that for about a year and a half now ever since she had a stroke and was diagnosed with dementia. We were told by her doctor that if she kept an active lifestyle that would delay her memory loss and I personally have witnessed that.
